Fat Boys on the Blue Grotto promontory retro-bolted

Another great Red Wall classic, Fat Boys E1 5b has been converted into a sport route making it a much more amenable climb since it is rife with loose blocks and doubtful looking rock for its bottom half. Over two afternoons of hard bolting and even harder jumaring, Andrew Warrington drilled and inserted 11 bolts after Andy Hooper had installed the LO at the top. This route has a plaque at the LO indicating that it is a 35m abseil to the bottom – a 70m rope is mandatory for abseiling doubled over or top-roping from below.
